ISLAMIC, Time of the Rashidun. Yazdigerd type. AH 31-41 / AD 651-661. Drachm (Silver, 33 mm, 3.41 g, 9 h), Arab-Sasanian type, SK (Sijistan), YE 20 = 651. Draped bust resembling Yazdgird III to right, wearing elaborate crown; behind head, ‘GDE ʾp̄zwt’ (‘[may his] glory increase’ in Pahlavi); before head, ‘yzkrt'’ (‘Yaz[d]gird’ in Pahlavi); in outer margin, ‘bism Allāh’ (‘In the name of Allah’ in Arabic). Rev. Fire altar with ribbons, flanked by two attendants; above altar, star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlavi; to right, SK (abbreviation for the name of the mint in Pahlavi). Album 1. Areas of weakness and with some deposits, otherwise, about very fine.
